The purpose of the media is supposed to be to inform the public. Fair and balanced has nothing to do with reporting facts. If there are bad facts, they should be reported. If there are good facts, they should be reported. Everything in between is pure opinion or speculation. The transparency promised by Obama would be a good antidote to some of the bad press he gets. What happened to that anyway?

To SKD up there: The law is not partial to one news media over the other. Any determination they made covers all media, not just FOX. This court case just gave them all the right to lie if that is the way you must look at it.

Essentially that is what it means.

FIX is not a legitimate news organization as they lie with impunity and make up stories or begin their own like the Teabaggers and the September 12, which all came out of Fox!

You make the news and then report on it.

If it were not for Fox and it;s fear-mongering for Bush, we would not have been in Iraq. They also tried to get us into a war with Iran, which failed!

Only in the sense that all the other stations are worshipping Obama, so to be fair and provide balance, you must be critical of Obama.

    I am a conservative.

The only thing "Fair and Balanced" about Fox News is that it is FAIR for there to be a conservative news network to provide BALANCE to all the liberal networks out there.

CNN may not be as far left as MSNBC, but it clearly has a liberal bias

Since he is a horrible President, it's only "fair" to point that out. Not so much anti-Obama as revealing Obama. Glad I could help.

Without quotes, fair and balances mean not supporting a pre-selected side, and providing a forum to all relevant views.

With quotes (as used by Faux News) it means utterly unfair, unbalanced, lying sacks of sh*t wing-nut.

if reading the truth means anti-obama maybe but you cant put a spin on it and act like they lie about obama ... they print the truth whether you want to hear it or not

  • 1 decade ago

No, it means that unlike other media sources, Fox News allows both sides of an issue to be aired.

Also, do you know the difference between and opinion page (as the one you point to IS clearly marked) and the news page?

those are relative terms, of course, but fox news is news with a perspective and that's fine with me, but I will not pretend that fox news does not have a perspective. Honestly, that page looks like a page from a republican newsletter

MSNBC admits to telling LIES, and had to RETRACT or face lawsuits from RUSH

During the 3:00PM ET hour of live coverage on MSNBC Friday, co-host David Shuster admitted that racially charged quotes he and other hosts attributed to Rush Limbaugh had been made up LIES:

“MSNBC attributed that quote to a football player who was opposed to Limbaugh’s NFL bid. However, we have been unable to verify that quote independently.”

I believe they have been using that slogan since 2002, long before most of us ever heard of Barack Obama.
