5000 butterfly, swim question?

last year i did a 4000 butterfly nonstop and by the end i wan seeing different spots for about 3 minutes, and this year im planning on a 5000 butterfly, im not sure if its a good idea but i was only eating about 700 calories at the time i did that and im now eating about 1500 so do you think i should do 4000 or 5000? 6000 will have to wait till 2011 tho.

Go for it Travis! Do the 5000 butterfly. A few minutes of seeing spots is worth the thrill of victory!

Is this in metres, yards, laps, strokes? 5000m is friggen 5km! OMG! And you do this non-stop???!!! If you seriously do this of course you felt strange. You were fatigued and your muscles would have been screaming to have a rest. I'm surprised you didn't pass out from exhaustion!

An activity like this would require a lot of calories to sustain your energy. I assume this takes a pretty long time to complete. If this is even a serious question I would be recommending a calorie intake of at LEAST 2000 but don't consume lots of fat. You will need lots of carbs. You will need to replenish after your swim too because you will have burned a lot of energy.

I wouldn't recommend doing 5km of butterfly non stop. This would be a very major strain on your body. It would be better to break up the 5km into shorter distances with breaks in between. Make sure you keep yourself hydrated by drinking water/sports drinks during your swim.

There is a reason why the longest butterfly event is 200m.

I hope you're joking. You should be eating at least 4000 calories a day if you're really doing this (probably more). Also, check out if there any olympic spots on your country's swim team.
