In women, testosterone is produced half in the ovaries and half in the adrenal glands. In normal males oestrogen is produced in a number of sites in the brain.Oestrogens are produced by the aromatisation of testosterone by the cytochrome P450 aromatase enzyme complex in both males and females.

Men and women's bits are essentially the same things, only ones external the other internal, the bit that women love being ahem consumed isn't too far removed from the dangly bit of a man enclosed in some skin with a mass of nerve endings. (i'm trying not to be too graphic in case children are reading this) all embryo's are conceived as female, its only until the 7th week before the developing embryo is given a sex, either male or female. Hence all males have nipples, its natures way of balancing out and not making mistakes. The putridity gland regulates growth and sex hormone. Its not a big deal to the ovaries to produce some testosterone and vice versa for men when needs be.

Bekoz the kidneys also produce testosterone

but not as much as the testes of a pubertal boy.

The testes start off near the kidneys but migrate downwards and drop into the scrotum by puberty.

Likewise men have glands producing small amounts of oestrogen and prolactin.

Ovaries and adrenal glands produce both testosterone and oestrogen
