Is there a site you can go to to check to see if your doctor or hospital have had any lawsuits against them?

I don't believe there is, but you can be guaranteed that any hospital will have faced multiple lawsuits. That's the way of life in the US. Most doctors will be in the same situation, depending on specialty. For instance, it;s rare for an OB/Gyn to avoid lawsuits, which is why it's becoming almost impossible for many areas to attract those specialists.

It would be extremely prejudicial to publish lawsuit information against doctors or hospitals in any sort of database, in my opinion, since the general public does not have the ability to evaluate whether a suit is valid or the severity of the claims. What could sound like a very serious case of malpractice could in actuality mean that the doctor left a small scar or something.

The local AMA can confirm whether a doctor or hospital is properly certified, which is all you really need to know.
