You appear to think someone outside the US is the real enemy. Well I'd suggest you consider why terrorist hate the US. I'm not saying I agree with methods or even their rationale, but the US basically only has itself to blame.

Before you blow a gasket, consider:

The US has for decades enjoyed low price gas and oil because US foreign policy has supported numerous repressive regimes to ensure access to the oil these countries have. Perhaps it's understandable that the citizens of these countries might eventually figure out that the US is at least partially to blame for their miserable conditions. And, when the US invades (like in Iraq) to protect the oil supply (while using the excuse of ensuring democracy) the anger increases. Combine that with fundamental Islam (not really any different than fundamental Christianity) and you can see the roots of terrorism.

Another root cause of hatred for the US is the legacy of actions taken in numerous South American (Chili, Argentina, etc), South Africa and other developing countries (e.g. Indonesia) based on the beliefs of the so called Chicago School of economics (partly Chicago trained economists from these countries and partly US encouraged IMF and World Bank policies). Numerous other countries have had democratic leaders assassinated, economies ruined, dictators installed and standards of living destroyed so that US companies can enjoy cheap access to their resources.

So ... the real enemy is the people of the US. They have been living a life of luxury founded on the suffering of much of the rest of the world. It's all coming home to roost.

Oh ... as to your question, the draft might reduce crime and gangs, but decriminalizing drugs would do much more. The world is starting to realize that the War on Drugs is a dismal failure (drugs are more available, cheaper and of higher purity than before the war started, while crime caused by drugs are up and prisons are full of "criminals" who use relatively innocuous drugs). Furthermore the fallout from the War on Drugs is all too often predominantly felt in other countries (e.g. Mexico, Columbia, Bolivia) and fueled by US demand for drugs. Again, before you blow up .. check the facts (not your opinion).

1. The draft is a fantastic idea, but it wont take gangbangers off the street. Do you really think a gangbanger is willing to die for the government? if a gangbanger gets drafted, they just wont go. Jail? that's were they live.

2. The real enemy is corporate profits. turn off your tv.

I think that is an interesting idea but I think as start would to be putting convicted felons in.. I don't like the idea of an all out draft because it really doesn't do any good to put good people who work and contribute to society in the military.
