Is representative government dead in the US?

Looks like it. The theory is representatives are elected to Congress to work for the interest of their constituents but today Republicans ONLY represent the most conservative members of their districts and states. All others might as well live in Iran - they have no representation. At least there are still some Democrats who consider the interests of constituents who are not just Democrats.

It's mostly because of their party. A republican will be black listed from their own party and receive no support if they even hint they might vote for a liberal issue.

    Interesting.

I have noticed for decades that Democrats "...ONLY represent the most [liberal] members of their districts and states. All others might as well live in Iran - they have no representation. At least there are still some [Republicans] who consider the interests of constituents who are not just [Republicans]."

It's been like that for years bud. Where have you been? Republican or Democrat, they're all in the pocket of big business. If we were really serious about reform we wouldn't let anyone spend more than $1,000 on a campaign. But the media would be down on that idea like a duck on a Junebug because they're the ones getting the hundreds of millions politicians spend on campaigns now.
