You can use a registry cleaner to clean up your computer and then make your computer faster,Why?the reason is that there may be some registry errors and remnant, corrupt files and temp files in your computer to cause "computer slow".
Every time you install and uninstall software on your computer and surfing online you create junk in the computer registry.over time, the registry can grow to enormous proportions, especially if the various programs you've installed do not do a good job of deleting and/or updating it's Registry entries. You need to scan and clean your computer with registry cleaner to make it fast.Good Registry Cleaner will improve your computer and Internet performance dramatically!
There are some comparison and review of TOP 5 registry cleaners.
You can download and scan your computer for free.

First, backup all your data to an external medium.
Then, if you have no hardware problems, do this:
(1) Run a FULL anti-virus scan with a good virus scanner. Get free editions of Avast or Antivir. Use the latest virus definitions file. But don't install or run more than one anti-virus at the same time.
(2) Run anti-spyware scans with Super Anti-spyware and malwarebytes free editions.

(3) Ensure all Microsoft security updates are applied.
(4) Run disk cleanup to delete old temp files and other junk
(5a) Run chkdsk once to scan for file system errors. http://support.microsoft.com/kb/315265
(5b) Run a thorough disk defrag. Use a good defragmenter for this, and also run a boot-time defrag to fix the MFT and page file if they are fragmented. Check out Diskeeper 2009, which is widely acknowledged to be the best defragger around. Their website has free 30-day trial versions. http://www.diskeeper.com/
(6) Disable unnecessary background processes and services that take up memory.
(7) Make sure all the hardware components have the latest and most stable drivers. Video card performance in particular is strongly dependent on drivers.
You do not need to clean out the registry or mess with the registry in ANY way whatsoever. Deleting a wrong key from the registry can damage your operating system.
Good Luck!

Have you emptied your Recycle Bin? Also check your Internet Cache and History for anything you may wish to save or bookmark, then clear that. Do a search for really large files (say over 10MB) and see if any of these are really needed, or can they be deleted or archived to CD. Things like photos and video take up a lot of space and are easy to archive. While you say you don't have any, there might be some things that have wormed their way in without you knowing. When you have a bit more space, then defrag the hard drive. In the long term, consider getting more RAM - this means there is less likelihood of memory spilling over into the swap file on the hard drive. If the only space for a large swap file (and it could be 512MB!) is scattered all over the hard drive, then it would take forever to keep swapping the memory back and forth. For xp ideally you really need 1GB RAM, for Vista 2GB. It will run on half that, but any less and you're into using the swap file regularly. Finally, hard drives are much cheaper now. If you have room, get a second drive and use that for as much as possible - even reinstall Windows there and start afresh, using your old drive just to archive what was there before.

I want to let you know:
Microsoft Registry Problems = Slow Computer!
Clean windows registry means faster PC performance. The registry is one of the most valuable sections of your PC. This is where important information and directories relating to installed software, hardware, temporary files downloaded from the Internet, created documents and folders, and other minor and minor applications are stored.
Over time, you install new programs, uninstalled unimportant programs, update software's, install new devices, download files from the web, etcetera, hence embarking all records in the registry system. This is normal, but it is not wise to leave it untouched. Once in a while, you have to check and remove files that are no longer in use to maintain the speed of your PC.

Its probably because of old registry entries thats not being used anymore and it's slowing down your PC. When my mom's PC was running slow I used CCleaner and now it only takes a few seconds for Microsoft Word to open up instead of 2 minutes. You can try CCleaner. Before you run CCcleaner uninstall programs you don't use and delete files you don't need or want anymore.
Have you tried Avira and Malwarebytes? I've found over 10 Trojans on my mom's PC with Avira and my friend found over 200 Malware on his PC with Malwarebytes. And also try Bitdefender Online scanner it finds some things Avira may miss.

After all that run the Defrager. Just go to:
My Computer --> right click on the hard drive you want to defrag --> Properties --> Tools --> Defrag
And you could repeat the process again in case they missed anything.

There are MANY reasons for computer slow downs:
not enough memory
too many programs starting up with windows at boot up time
too many junk files
too many restore points
Clean windows registry can speed up the computer.

Every file present in your registry contains a command or direction for every program and application on your computer. Registry files are the files that give your computer the instructions for what to do next. If these registry files get corrupt or misplaced, your computer fails to understand what to do. In these instances, your computer loses control, eventually leading to a crash. At this stage the priority is to fix these registry files. In such situations it is suggested that you do not try to fix the registry yourself. Immediately find registry cleaner software and scan your computer to locate any errors. This software will identify all the missing entries or errors, restoring them right away. In many cases, your computer will be back to normal. It is recommended that you run this software once a month for best results. I should like to commend Registry Easy http://cleanup-comuter-run-perfectly.com/

If you have already tried different anti virus software.
Then the problem could be hardware instead of malware problem.
Bad RAM, motherboard or bad sector in hard disk will also cause the problems you describe.
You should bring your PC to a professional technician or a friend, who works in IT sector and have him take a look :)

i'll assume you're running windows. there's a few steps you can take. number one, would be a system restore. this would completley delete everything on your computer, and when you turn it on, it would be like the first day you got it. you would have to re-register, and go through all the set-up processes. also, another thing you should do on atleast a monthly basis, is defrag your computer. this can be found by going to the start menu, then going to acessories, then system tools. you will then see a disk defragmenter program, click, and run. if you take all these steps and your computer is still running slow. i'd suggest purchasing a new computer. oh, and get a mac.
