Extra testing (winter) for Rookies (MotoGP)?

Any opinions on whether this is a good or bad thing.

http://www.motomatters.com/news/2009/10/27/extra_t...

seems obvious at first to give the Rookies (who cant ride factory bikes) any kind of advantage they can get. or hard lessons. But what are the costs involved in takin a rookie and his crew to Sepang. should they be allowed to test on their nearest track ? and if so, How much testing ?

Its going to be a long winter.

Update 2:

@Vitor, I think maybe the weather has something to do with testing at Sepang in the winter !!

    Hello Proc and everyone,

With this big list of "rookies" :) coming up, I think it's a good idea to have some extra testing. I even think this rule should become permanent, as it may contribute for more competitiveness of the 800cc class. Although I must confess I don't have a clue about the costs and there will probably be a significant cost, I don't know :P. Maybe it might save some money to the teams later, as the extra training will probably reduce the amount of crashes in the races. I just don't think it will make a difference for Simoncelli. He's got a lot of talent, but I think he learned how to overtake in a gladiator arena. I was thinking when he comes to the GP, he would be more careful, but after seeing that pass on the second race of Imola this year involving Biaggi and Spies, I'm a little skeptic. DANGER! DANGER! heheheh

Should the riders be allowed to test on the nearest track? If they really spend less I think that's a good idea., but then again, they probably have a other reasons to have chosen Sepang...

I think they should have as much testing as it takes to get reasonably familiarized with the 800cc, so that the general testing for all the riders could just be more focused on the bikes.

It's definitely going to be a long winter with all that is to come next season. :P

    Edit: Right! The Winter! :))
