What do you like best about the seasons?

I wrote this as a reply (answer), but then I thought, it's kind of fun. What do you think? Too sappy?

Season Song

Savor the music that all seasons sing!

Favor the songs with your ear as they ring!

The whisper of pines in soft Winter wind,

The roar of rivers when Spring comes again,

The riot of songbirds in Summer nest,

And crackle of Fall leaves when trees take rest.

Update:

Thanks, all, for your comments. You all rock. Sorry, I haven't been posting much. Weird because up until last month I was writing like a mad man on a big (for me) poetry project (A cycle of 40 blank verse poems). I do try to log in and at least read your postings when I can.

Update 2:

I could see the "s" for the plurals, Nick, but I think the possessives are overdoing it. You risk taking the sibilance too far.

Update 3:

Thanks, Gideon. I could certainly see moving the beginning to the end. It's a cycle after all. That couplet could even go in the middle of the poem...

I'm going to have to plat around with it.

Update 4:

Well, I meant "play," but "plat" isn't far off. I am braiding words, after all.

Update 5:

... so I guess that puts me six hours ahead of you longitudinally-speaking. I have to read your morning pomes at lunch-time. Still tasty, though!

Update 6:

Elys, I enjoy your morning pomes whenever I read them... always thoughtful and provocative. Here it is 10:30 at night.

I like this John. It is good to read something from you. I would suggest concluding with the the first two lines.

    I see it like this:-

The whisper of pines in soft Winter wind,

The roar of rivers when Spring comes again,

The riot of songbirds in Summer nest,

And crackle of Fall leaves when trees take rest.

Savor the music that all seasons sing!

Favor the songs with your ear as they ring!

    change ear to ears

one cool thing you could do is pluralize the words, make it like this:

Savor the music that all seasons sing!

Favor the songs with your ears as they ring!

The whispers of pines in soft Winter's winds,

The roars of rivers when Spring comes again,

The riots of songbirds in Summer's nests,

And the crackle of leaves in Fall when trees rest.

what do you think? it's really good either way, good job
