Updates not installing?
on 15th October it did loads of updates when i turned off and they were successful. Since then each night it says updating 1 of 1 when i turn off but they are not installed ...can anyone tell me why and how to fix this?
it's XP and it's been ok but earlier this year an engineer had to come n sort it out cos it had not had any updates for ages he installed new program and it was fine until 16th October. I tried to install manually but it says some were unsuccessful

Had a similar problem a few weeks ago.
My solution:
Note the paticular update that you are having a problem with.
Then go to Google and insert 'Windows will not install with [quote number] - and note the responses.
In my case it was the registry that required altering.

It's the same with my computer. It's the up-date to a programme I don't have and don't have a disc for.
I think it's for "M/S office", which I am led to believe, lots of other people have also not got.
It's a pain in the butt having this up-date asking to be installed everyday, but until MicroSoft stop it, we're going to have to lump it but I've stopped up-dating daily and only now and again see if there is anything new to up-date.
I'm not a computer wizard so i'm hoping someone will come on here and tells us how to get rid of this annoying up-date, but I thought you might like to know your not alone......

XP or Vista I'm on Vista and all my updates have been successful over the whole spectrum of Micro$oft
