A question about white rice?
Does white rice turn into worms/bugs when it's sitting for a while in the cabinet? I put my rice in a Mason Canning Jar about a year ago and got it back out a couple months later then I went to use it and it looked like little scaly bug/worms in it? I was afraid to eat it so I threw it away.
I have a bag of rice in the freezer (my mother told me to freeze it when I'm not using it) but I'm afraid to eat it because it's been in there for a little over three months.

Rice doesn't 'turn into' anything. Bugs can lay eggs in it and the eggs can hatch and eat the rice.
Chances are the rice in the freezer won't have bugs in it, because even if eggs were laid before the rice went in the freezer, those eggs will be frozen and dead.
Source(s): We had a problem with little moths laying eggs in the rice and cereal, so we kept all that stuff in the freezer and didn't have the problem anymore. - 1 decade ago
First: you must cook more often...
Second: the rice is a very good food for insects (which can be worms in some stages of their life, look the link bellow-complete metamorphosis)
Third: to prevents insects in your cabinet you can peel a garlic, and let it there.

No, rice, which is a plant, does not turn into worms, which are creatures.
However, if you don't keep it properly sealed bugs can get into the rice.
