  • Recovery Disk for Windows Vista, Toshiba Satellite?

I am looking for a way to restore a hard drive for my Toshiba Satellite. I have no recovery disk for the computer but I do have a working hard drive for it. Is there any way to copy boot up files to a USB Flash drive and use that to boot up my other hard drive? Or is there a download online (free) that I could use to get the hard disk booted up?

  • digital camera drivers, vivitar?

I bought a vivitar digital camera today. Little did I know when I would get home, my CD drive would completely not work at all. It's been messed up for years. So I'm wondering if there's anyway I can download the driver/software for it from a site?

The camera is a Vivitar v98378.

I checked the website and couldn't figure it out. I also had a friend of mine to try to help me find it and he couldn't either.

If I can't get it from a site could I download the software/driver onto another computer and send it to myself via email?

  • Just started to work out and needing help?

I just started running recently and well, it's not exactly enough to get my body in the condition it needs to be in. My doctor just wants me to get healthier and try healthier habits. I have NEVER worked out in my life. When I was last active in working out, it was about six years ago.

I was wondering how much should I start lifting when I start lifting weights. Also how many sit ups should I do in one day. How far should I run or how long? I wasn't sure if I was supposed to do this with a time thing or not.

I am only 106 lbs, I'm not trying to lose weight or anything. I'm just trying to get my body in a healthier condition to cut down on some medical issues. My doctor said I would be doing a lot better if I would just work out. And seeing of how I don't want to go pay for a personal trainer at the gym and I have the gym equipment I need already at home, I was just wonder how to start out so I wouldn't hurt myself more than help.

  • Joining the military?

I am wondering of my odds of being able to join the military. I am very short, around 4'11-5'1 and I weigh 103-110lbs, I just had a Extracorporeal shock wave lithotripsy (ESWL)--which is the fragmentation of a kidney stone--about a month ago but I go this week to find out if my kidney is damaged from the stone or if anything happened when the stone was there to make my kidney not function. That's the only real health issue I have had. Last time I talked to a recruiter I was unsure about it so I told him I wasn't interested. I was 18 at the time, still young in life but I'm 21 now and very interested in the opportunity.

What are my chances of actually being able to join given the height/weight and the kidney issue I just had?

  • server error on facebook?

Whenever I try to go to www.facebook.com, I get the "Server Not Found" error. It's been like this almost all day, since about noon or so. All the other webpages are working but just facebook can't be found. I'm typing the URL correctly and my friends seem to not be having any issues with it. What could be my problem? How could I fix it? Or do I just have to wait this out?

  • First time using a tree stand...?

It's my first year using a tree stand. I am well aware of how to use this and how to hunt from one and set one up. I have been hunting on the ground for around four years now but I figured it was time for me to finally get up in the tree.

With my tree stand, the local sporting goods manager pointed me in the direction of a chest safety harness because of my body type and size, plus with some other health conditions he said it would be better for me than the full body.

I got the thing home and realized, I have no idea how to put it on. Is there anywhere online where I can go to see how to use my safety harness correctly or can someone simply tell me how to do so? I'd rather try to find out how to use it online before I drove all the way back down to the store and have them to demonstrate. My father also took a look at it and couldn't figure out how to use it.

    Can someone help me?

  • D:\Setup.ins and SETUP.EXE error?

When I tried to put a CD Rom disk into my computer and set it up, it gave me the error:

D:\Setup.ins file has become corrupted. Unable to load the installation instructions.

    Error 704

So after it wouldn't work on autoplay, I explored the disk, found the setup file, clicked it and it gave me this error:

Setup has caused an error in SETUP.EXE setup will now close.

If you continue to experience problems, try restarting your computer.

I restarted my computer twice, tried it again both times and still the same error. I loaned the disk to my sister to use for her son (it's a game) and it worked perfectly fine before I let her borrow it, got it back, and this error appeared. What could be the issue? Is there any way to bypass this error?

  • Windows XP Issue when loading up?

I had an error when loading up my computer today after the power went off and then when I pressed F1 to continue, it had went back to Dec. 31, 2002. Does anyone know why it would have did this or how I can fix it? I fixed the clock to say the right date, but I'm more worried about the issue there.

My monitor has strange flickering lines through it now as well. I'm not sure if that is related with that issue or if the power surge when it came back on effected it.

  • Joining the military? Good or bad?

I have been doing research since I was 17, I am now 20, and I was wondering what should I know about joining any branch of the military? I have quite a bit of friends I have talked to about the Navy and Army both but I still have not made a decision on if I want to join or not. I am not in college and I live at home taking care of my father but I realize my life isn't going to stop and just wait for everything to fall into place, I need to take some action some time. I know I would have to take the ASVAB, which should not be a problem.

Would anyone actually recommend joining any branch of the military? If so, why? Which branch would you recommend for someone female my age and why? Is there a difference in how they treat males and females? Any other things you could tell me about it from personal experiences? What is boot camp like and how long is boot camp? How long are the contracts for each branch?

I want some in depth answers and any more information you can give me.

  • how to repair a scratch/crack in glass lens?

I just noticed today that my glasses have a scratch/crack in the lens. They're a heavy frame and not very thick lens. I put them in their case for safe keeping until I can get something to fix it. (Yes, I am using my old ones and I know that's horrible for my eye sight but I'd like to be able to see.)

I just need to know of some kind of product (preferably cheap) that may help or keep it from cracking worse? Maybe some kind of spray or cleaner or something like that. I'm not wanting a home remedy I want an actual product that I can get from a drug store, walmart, or something.

  • Is there a halt in ammunition production?

I was at my local pawn shop where my family has been buying ammo for our rifles, hand guns, and shot guns for years now and the shelves were almost completely empty. Luckily, I wasn't buy ammo that day. I went to WalMart and they have boxes of shells, that used to be $15 now for $50-$70. I've overheard people talking about it and they said that ammunition production is shutting down because of a bill that was passed by government. Is there any news stories on this or anywhere I can read what is going on with my firearms? I love hunting and target shooting with my family. I'm very concerned about this. Can you share with me what you know or some news stories or websites on it?

  • Can a diabetic live without a spleen?

I've been trying to research this for some time now and I've found absolutely nothing about diabetics and splenectomy. I have found that splenectomy can cause diabetes but not the effects on someone who is a diabetic already.

I would like to hear your input of if someone can live without a spleen being a diabetic. I would like to also see where you got your answer from. Websites, personal experiences, etc.

    And please, no snide remarks.

  • Is there an anti-virus that is good for dialup, and free?

I have tried AVG, Avast (both didn't work with my dialup). When I downloaded AVG it shut my computer down on its own without me even touching it. Avast just was really extremely slow trying to download the files needed. I had Avira but it stopped updating but I tried to reinstall and it did the same thing (I'm sure it's a glitch with that program).

Is there anything else free that is actually decent and free?

I am running Windows XP (I think Service Pack 2)

My dialup speed is usually 26.4

I'm not worried about my connection speed, it's fine. I've called the phone company and got information about it. I'm not complaining. It's cheaper than high speed and fits my budget. I'm just wanting a decent, non-spam, non-fake, anti-virus? Any suggestions?

  • Avira Antivirus Won't Update?

    It starts out like this:

    Connecting with http://dl5.avgate.net./

    Please wait....

    Then goes to:

    Updater is starting applications

    Please wait...

And then you think it's updating and it comes up:

    Internet connection failed

I'm obviously connected TO the internet. So what could be the issue? It's done this before but not for a while. Apparently, it's not updated since the 26th of October. What should I do? I can't figure out how to use the Avira site at all or where anything is on it.

  • A question about white rice?

Does white rice turn into worms/bugs when it's sitting for a while in the cabinet? I put my rice in a Mason Canning Jar about a year ago and got it back out a couple months later then I went to use it and it looked like little scaly bug/worms in it? I was afraid to eat it so I threw it away.

I have a bag of rice in the freezer (my mother told me to freeze it when I'm not using it) but I'm afraid to eat it because it's been in there for a little over three months.

  • Can you make a hot tub cold?

was wondering if you could turn the temperature on them to make them cold in the summer? Like, not freezing, but just like a swimming pool normal temperature?

Just a random question. I have no idea where it really came from.

  • Can birth control cause thinning of blood?

Can taking birth control make your blood thin? I mean in the sense that if you get cut or scraped and your blood is thin. Could the pills cause this?

I've been on Ortho Tri-Cyclen for four years and it's been so good to me about everything. It helped the medical issues that were happening, which is why I'm taking it.

Doctor would be out of the question because I lost my health insurance a while back.

  • How do you play Bakugan?

I've read other questions and the answers went over my head. I'm babysitting my nephew today and I have no idea what I'm doing or how to play. Neither does he. He and his mom play but she's the one that tells him the scoring and what to do. I read the instruction book and it also went over my head. I've never been into games like this but it's what he wants to do so can you help me out?

  • I have a female question about menstruation...?

Is it normal for a woman to swell a little and get sore in the vaginal area during menstruation? It only does it when I'm menstruating. I got kind of worried but I can't get anything done at the doctor until after... but it doesn't do it after.

I have recently switched to tampons instead of pads. I change both every 3-4 hours and I alternate between the two. I am on birth control and have been since I was 15 (I'm 19 now.) I'm not sexually active. I use the birth control to regulate my periods because I was having multiple ones a month. The yearly gynecologist appointment said everything was fine when I went a few months ago so it's not cancer or anything like that.

Any ideas / comments that you may think would help are highly appreciated.
