Windows XP Issue when loading up?

I had an error when loading up my computer today after the power went off and then when I pressed F1 to continue, it had went back to Dec. 31, 2002. Does anyone know why it would have did this or how I can fix it? I fixed the clock to say the right date, but I'm more worried about the issue there.

My monitor has strange flickering lines through it now as well. I'm not sure if that is related with that issue or if the power surge when it came back on effected it.

Have you rebooted it since fixing the date? Try shutting it all the way down, letting it rest for a full minute, then start it up again. If the date stays at what you fixed it to, you should be okay. If the date once again says 2002, then your BIOS has been affected.

I hate to say it, but my guess is that the power surge harmed your computer. Maybe the monitor is fine and the lines reflect what's happening inside the box. I don't know. Maybe it is the monitor itself.

It's NOT a Windows XP issue, it's a hardware issue. I'd suggest taking it to a tech to have it tested to see exactly which parts are affected. Maybe it won't cost much to replace, but maybe you'll need a new computer. Please get a surge protector so this doesn't happen to you again.
