Sure. There is an official document here on how to transfer adobe pdf ebooks to the Amazon Kindle:

BTW, I remember I read these reviews when I decided to get my Kindle device:

    http://www.amazon.com/gp/redirect.html?ie=UTF8&loc...

    http://www.speedreaderxreview.com/is-kindle-2-wort...

Finally, Amazon has just put a price slash on the Kindle 2, and it is now selling $100 cheaper than the price I got my Kindle, and it adds in international wireless access... So take the chance if you want it.

    Hope it helps :)

Yes, the Amazon Kindle can read PDF ebooks.

You may be interested in this review as well, which is written by a top reviewer and book lover. It outlines quite a lot of benefits about the Kindle device:

BTW, there are some website like this one, where you can find more than 20,000 free books for the Kindle. So no need to go to library to borrow them, you can actually own them:

    Hope this helps.

The Sony SB5100 is aboiut $200 and can read PDF and epub. Maybe mobi, I'm not sure. Text PDFs are OK, scanned PDFs not great. It has collections but I'm not sure how to control that. Books bought through the sony store go there and everything else goes in "books" alphabetically (or "images" for pictures) It has dictionary but I've not used it. It has e-ink screen, good outdoors. It has annotation and notes, and can search in books. Works over USB as a memory device in Linux etc, or via Sony's software on Windows.

Not easily. Kindle has it's own book format so you would need a conversion program to convert PDF files to kindle.

You could consider getting a standard palm PDA device and loading adobe reader on that though.

Something like the Visor Platinum would work good (monochrome screen but good size, readable and cheap):

Or any other palm PDA listed here:

I have always liked to learn. But I'd be lying if I said I didn't also enjoy TV. During the day it is usually a reserve.

Television is produced to the lowest common denominator - i.e., the average IQ of the general public, whereas a booklet is written to the best common denominator
