When does Panera Bread throw away their day old bread?

I'm a freegan but I can't figure out when Panera throws away their day-old bread. Also, employees both current and past, do they give away their day olds?

Thanks!

I used to work there. What they do is at the end of the night - they put all the leftover bread in big bags. (normally clear trash bags) The next morning, someone from a local shelter will come to the back door and ring the bell and usually the manager on duty will give them the bags of bread. :)

    Panera Bread Donates Leftovers

Ask someone the next time you're in there. Some places make double duty out of their bread...making croutons, etc. Or they may donate day old bread to food shelters, or just throw it out. It just depends on their policy. It is best to just ask.

The cheese breads are saved to make croutons the next day. All the other baked goods are donated to local charities, such as churches, food pantries, homeless shelters, etc.

With the sesame, make a beautiful French toast in the morning. With the fennel, try making some Monte Cristo sandwiches or freeze it for stuffing this fall.

They give it to the food bank or shelter.
