Hi everyone! My name is Tammy and I'm 31. I live in Tampa, FL and I love it here! When I am free and not actually working I love to go to the beach, the movies and just relax and have a good time. Of course one of my favorite things to do when I am home is to go online and answer questions on here!

  • Getting married at the courthouse?

I wonder how people feel about people getting married at the court house. It was never my ideal place to get married, but right now, for me the best place to get married.

My fiancee and I have limited funds and we live in FL. Most of our immediate family/friends live up in CT/MA. Since our funds are limited, (We had job loss and family heath issues come up in which we helped out) we haven't gone up north to see our family/friends as much as we hoped. We have lived here for nearly 5 years and have gone up 3 times.

What we are thinking is to get married at the courthouse and then have a celebration of our love w/ our families and friends in a year or two when we hopefully have moved back up there and have more money. We are the ones who have to pay for our wedding.

We have been together for 11 years now. (in our early 30's) The reason why we aren't married is the cost of an actual wedding and me! (The court house doesn't seem "romantic")

However, now I'm at a point where I just want to make it official! If we waited until we moved back up there it might be another year or two or three. Who knows!! My fiancee has better heath insurance than my company provides and would love to put me on his.

So, basically I'm looking for opinions of what people would do. People who have been in similar situations as me. If anyone has got married at the courthouse - what was the experience like? Do you still say vows?

    Thank you in advance! :

  • What is your opinion on smoking bans?

Most of the states in the United States have a smoking ban in restaurants, or if the state doesn't the city or county bans it. Other countries even have a country wide smoking bans. How do you feel about smoking bans in restaurants and smoking in other public locations?

Do you like the fact that the government decides or should it be an owners decision?

I personally love it - and I'm a non-smoker. I can't even remember the last time when I went into a restaurant and I asked smoking or non. My mom who finally quit (yay!) is also for smoking bans. When the smoking ban went into effect for her state she was a smoker!

Do you have a ban where you live?

I live in FL and restaurants are smoke-free, but the stand alone bars and clubs are not. I went to the club for a going away party for a friend and it was extremely smoky in there. I came home smelling like smoke.

Just looking to get some opinions. Was discussing this w/ a friend earlier today.

    Thank you! :)

  • If you won the powerball would you do a lump sum or annual payments?

Just kind of curious what people would do if they won the powerball. Nice to dream huh? :) Since the powerball is a 500 million prize - would you opt for a lump sum or annual payments?

For myself - At the amount that it is - I would choose payments. If it was smaller (anything under 100m) I would do a lump sum.

  • Wedding venues in Connecticut?

Hi! I was hoping to get some insight and/or opinions on wedding venues in CT. Preferably around Central CT. My fiancee and I are currently living in Tampa, Florida, however we hope to move back up north soon. That is where all of our family/friends are. His family is all over CT - however he is from Vernon and most of my family lives in MA in the neighboring town bordering CT.

I am thinking of us getting married on October 1st of next year. I would love to have the ceremony outside and the reception inside. We would want to get married through Justice of the Peace since religion is not part of our relationship.

We would need something that doesn't cost a real lot at all. My parents can't pay for the wedding, so it's 100% us.

I have been using google, but I haven't came up with something that completely wowed me quite yet. Also, since I'm 1300 miles away it would help to hear where others went to a wedding or had a wedding there.

Thanks in advance... I appreciate it! :)

  • Book recommendations?

I am going on vacation on Thursday for 9 days. The flight time is only 3 hours all together, but there is a 4 hour layover. I'm looking for books to download for my Nook! I like a lot of books. Mystery/suspense, fiction, sometimes love (nothing too sappy - more like books like Something borrowed)

I am finishing up the trilogy of Fifty Shades, and before that I read the trilogy of the Hunger Games.

Thank you in advance for suggestions! :)

  • How much does it cost to fix a radiator fan?

Hello! Last week my car was getting close to overheating. My anti-freeze isn't leaking and it was full. I was told by my friends husband that it is either the radiator fan or the sensor for the radiator fan is not working. I was curious about how much roughly this would cost.

Also my car needs an AC recharge and the driver side window motor needs to be replaced. If I was to fix everything, I'm just curious about an estimated price. I'm not currently fixing it because I think the repairs will be more than my car is worth.

My car is a 2003 Chevy Caviler LS 2 door sport coupe, not sure if it matters or not but it has 127100 miles on it.

Thank you for any input, I appreciate it!

  • Car recommendations please!?

Hi everyone! I'm looking to get a newer car in a few months and I'm doing a little research on cars so I know which one might be best for me. Currently I have a 2 door 2003 Chevy Caviler sport coupe that has 125K on it. I love my little car, however I want to start a family in the next year and a car w/ 4 doors just seems that it would be a lot easier

I don't want to spend too much. I figure between my down payment (I want to put down $3000) and my trade in (hopefully at least $1000) I want the difference to be between 10-11K.

I really like the Nissan Versa Hatchback I would want a hatchback or sedan. I really don't want a coupe, minivan or suv. Especially the way the gas prices are now! I need a car that would be really good on gas and of course has power locks/windows, etc.

Any suggestions would be great. Thanks so much and enjoy your weekend! :)

  • Cheap and/or free things to do in Orlando?

I actually live in Tampa and my best friend from Massachusetts (where i grew up) is coming to visit me. I have lived in Tampa now for a little over 3 years. However, I am looking for suggestions of places to bring her that doesn't cost a lot of money that I might be overlooking. I am currently laid off - so any theme parks are out of the question. I've done Ripley's and Wonderworks. They are good there - but I would prefer to take her someplace where I haven't been as well!

So far I have thought of Downtown Disney, Gatorland and either Fort De Soto or Clearwater Beach and possibly Big Cat Rescue.

Thanks in advance for any suggestions!

  • Why do you thumbs down someone answer?

When reading other answers, what makes you decide to give someone a thumbs down? I've read other answers which are very well written and correct, or even short and to the point and correct or it's an opinion which have been thumbed down.

I personally only will give thumbs down to people who are rude to the poster and/or others. Also if it's obvious someone is being a troll.

Thanks in advance for your input! :)

  • Northern lights from Quebec City?

Next year I hope to go to Quebec City for a vacation. Can you see the northern lights well from there? I plan on going (hopefully) next June. If there is a good place to see them that isn't too far from Quebec City - I don't mind driving there. I've always wanted to see the northern lights. Just like stars are, I'm sure it is best to see the lights away from the city lights!

Thanks in advance for your help and suggestions!

  • Which Canadian City is best to visit?

Next year once I move back to New England, I want to visit Canada. The 3 cities I am thinking of choosing are: Montreal, Quebec City and Toronto. Basically anything within driving distance from my starting point. (Vernon, CT) I went to Montreal for one day - 10 years ago and I barely remember it. I just remember really liking Old Montreal, and I heard that Quebec City is a lot like Old Montreal!

I did take 3 years of French in High School, but that was a little while ago now. Of course I could always brush up though on my French understanding if I decided to go with any city in the Quebec provence.I have heard there is a lot of French speaking in Quebec City.

What city would you recommend for someone to visit? Which one has good city tours? I am thinking of staying for 3 days.

Thank you in advance for your suggestions!

  • How can I tell if water is warm enough for yeast?

I would like to make some homemade pretzels this weekend or next weekend, and I've never made anything with yeast before. I've done plenty of baking and with cookies and brownies, so I can be a bit of a perfectionist with it so that is why I want to make sure it is perfect!

I would really like to try the recipe I found and it calls for warm water at 110 degrees. Is there a thermometer at like Bed Bath and Beyond that I could buy or is it just a judgment thing? I've looked at their website and I can't figure out what would be good if anything. However, if it is a judgment thing, how can I tell? Thanks in advance for your help.

  • What would be the best playmate for my dog?

We currently have a 3 year old male golden retriever/chow mix. We are looking to get him a friend so he will have someone to play with. He has been fixed, and whatever dog we would get would be fixed too! He is still very playful and hyper. Very loving too! He is about 50lbs.

I was curious if getting him a male friend would be better or a female friend. Also does the size matter for a playmate for him? Yesterday we went to a local place that had a lot of dogs from local shelters that were looking to be adopted. I fell in love with this little male papillon who weighs 10 lbs. I have been researching papillon's and I am starting to get really interested in that breed.

    Any suggestions and/or recommendations?

    Thanks in advance!

  • How can I register a car that is not in my name?

I currently live in CT. I am moving to FL in 2-3 weeks. My CT registration is up June 18. So, it would make no sense for me to register my car in CT if I will be gone before the registration is up.

However, the car is in my fathers name. I am not on the car loan at all. My father lives in MA.

How can I get my car registered in FL without him there?

Any suggestions would be so helpful. Thank you very much!

  • Auto train from Lorton, VA to Sanford, FL?

I am relocating down to Tampa and I am going to be taking the auto-train from VA to FL. I will be traveling alone. I am debating between the superliner roomette and the standard accommodation's. What would you recommend? Are the standard accommodations okay for sleeping?

Also, does the train have wi-fi? I would like to bring my laptop onboard with me.

I also have heard that meals aren't included in the standard fare. If I wanted to could I purchase the dinner?

    Thanks for your help :)
