How much does it cost to fix a radiator fan?

Hello! Last week my car was getting close to overheating. My anti-freeze isn't leaking and it was full. I was told by my friends husband that it is either the radiator fan or the sensor for the radiator fan is not working. I was curious about how much roughly this would cost.

Also my car needs an AC recharge and the driver side window motor needs to be replaced. If I was to fix everything, I'm just curious about an estimated price. I'm not currently fixing it because I think the repairs will be more than my car is worth.

My car is a 2003 Chevy Caviler LS 2 door sport coupe, not sure if it matters or not but it has 127100 miles on it.

Thank you for any input, I appreciate it!

The fan may not be the problem, unless its not coming on when the temperature gets up. Once your car gets to temp the thermo fan will kick in and out as it needs to maintain a good temperature and not let the car heat up or get too cool.

So dont be worried if the fan is not on all the time. If it never comes on and the car overheats then it will be as described by your husbands friend. Otherwise there may be a hundred reasons why the car overheats even with the fan operating correctly. A new fan and thermo control wouldn't likely set you back more than $50-100 and the same in labour for someone to install them.

Is the electric radiator cooling fan running when the dash temperature reaches 212 degrees? If not, the first thing to change is the electric fan switch in the engine block. If the fan IS running, when was the lest time the coolant was drained, flushed and entire cooling system cleaned.

if you take it to auto zone they will put it on the scanner for free and it would tell you what it is causing it to over heat.

Source(s): id say the window motor would be the most exspensive to have fixed.
