Why do the Tampa Bay Buccaneers ******* suck so bad this year?
I mean, I know it was supposed to be a rebuilding year but this is ridiculous...who's to blame? Ownership who won't pay for talent? The Front office who can't find the talent? The Coaches who can't coach it? Or the players who, well, suck giant donkey balls!
Tell me Yahoo Answers, why do the bucs suck so bad?

1. Entirely new coaching staff.
2. Entirely new, young, inexperienced players.
3. Tons and tons of change.
When you look at the teams that have done well over the past, normally there isn't a lot of change in at least some regard.
The Saints have pretty much the same players and coaching staff as last year. Same goes for the Giants. Both started off 5-0.
The Vikings stay pretty much the same on coaching and players except for the addition of Favre. They started off 5-0.
The Broncos started off with basically the same players, just the coaching staff changed. They started off 5-0.
Colts look like they have the most change of the 5-0 teams, but look at what stayed the same: Assistants Moore and Mudd the backbone of the offensive coaching staff stay. Manning is still there. The assistant head coach moves up to head coach and works with the former head coach for a year before taking the job, planning every move out.
Pretty much all of these teams stayed the same for the most part, but just changed one or two things to adjust the team and make it better for this year.
It's sort of like having a house. Some houses are in better condition than others. Others are in worse shape. Out of the 32 teams you want to have the biggest and best house. Do you:
A. Do some minor renovations to make it look better?
B. Do a major remodeling?
or
C. Just knock the house down and build a new one?
As you can imagine, a minor renovation is going to get done a lot quicker. That's sort of what the Colts, Steelers, and Patriots tend to usually do.
Major remodeling is sort of what the Redskins and Cowboys tend to do. They never totally take down the house but they pay out big bucks to add big names to the team. You pay out big money to make the house look a lot better, but in the end after all that money, you still have the framework of that old beat up house.
Then you have the teams like Detroit, Houston and Tampa Bay that are in the mode of tearing the entire house down and completely rebuilding it. Houston is just farther along in the house building process.
If I have a really nice house, I just want to do minor renovations. That's why the teams that are really good tend to stay really good.
If I have major problems with the house, if I do a major renovation I can get it done quicker than rebuilding the entire house. But I might be only able to get the kitchen done. Then once the kitchen is done I have to rebuild the bathroom. Then by the time I get the rest of the house fix the kitchen needs redone again. That's what Tampa Bay was worried about. They could keep on patching and repairing but would they ever have a Super Bowl contention team doing that? By the time they fix one thing, another goes bad.
So they decided to just level the house and start over. The thing is, they are still building the new house. So you're comparing a house that isn't nearly completely finished with ones that are.
All of that change and turnover makes it extremely hard to build a good team right away. The players have to get experience. They have to get some team unity. They have to bulk up. They have to find out what plays work.
Tampa Bay is very young all around. They are making a big gamble. It's going to take a long time to rebuild, but their hope is that with starting completely over they can eventually build a top tier team instead of settling year after year for a 2nd tier team. Cleveland is doing the same thing. These teams are trading off big name guys to bring in 4-5 good young guys to completely revamp the team. It's just going to take 2-3 years to train those young guys.

The Buccaneers can't build through the draft. None of there 1st round picks in the last 5 years ((except Cadillac) Freeman, Talib, Adams, Joseph, Clayton) have not really worked out. They didn't even have a 1st round pick in 1998, 2000, 2002, or 2002. If you look at solid franchises in the NFL (Steelers, Patriots, Colts), they build through every round of the draft. The Bucs need to make better picks that will help them in the future.
