My Red Hump Cichlid spawned and has eggs in her mouth!! Help!!!!?

Lol, hey there, if your not sure what I meant up above than please dont answer. The geophagus red hump cichlid is a mouthbrooder, the female carries the eggs in her mouth. Its been two days, she has not eaten, I know this is normal. I plan on keeping the fry( I am not a fish breeder and never bred fish before). How do I go about this, shes in my 55 with the male and 3 other cichlids. If i remove her where do i put her? Do i use a filter in the tank I move her to or will it suck up the eggs? I need help!!!!!!!!!!

Update:

heres the issue, if i do move her to my other tank, which is not in use right now, its my quarintine tank, i have two hang on back filters, do i turn them off???? i heard if you leave the filter on when shes spits the eggs out the filters will suck the eggs right up? i heard i have to go with a spounge filter. also its been two days, when should i remove her to the quarantine tank?????

It's tricky to deal with this. There are basically three options. 1. Strip the fish of the eggs. I promise it's not as bad as it seems and just type in stripping cichlid eggs on the internet and you'll find all the steps. The second is to remove only her with the babies in her mouth from the tank to another tank. And yes you will need everything you would normally need fr a tank for the new home. The third is to leave it alone and hope she guards the fry. The only options that have worked for me are 1 and 3. As far as three goes though when they do let the babies out of the mouth you should try to catch them and relocate them as other fish will definitely snag them up. Any way you do it it's pretty hard but those are basically your 3 options it now has to do with how many tanks you have and what kind of effort your willing to put in to it. Good luck! Newly hatched brine shrimp, liquid fry food, and microworms are all also good ways to feed the fry.

Source(s): Have a 500g cichlid tank...all mouthbrooders, I've also asked this question a million different ways on yahoo answers and never got anything decent back.

IT will have to be Ok, but when its will get picked on, separate it. You will have to separate it while the eggs are just about hatching( despite the fact that the toddlers can live to tell the tale within the fundamental tank). Separating it could supply the toddlers a larger threat. Last, it takes two-6 weeks( relying at the species) for the eggs to hatch. Hope this is helping!!
