Are leopard geckos always nocturnal?
Ok thanks to my previous question I have decided to go for a leopard gecko however I have read they are nocturnal. Do they do anything during the day and if not can they be brought up to be more active during the day?

They are nocturnal, and will do very very little during the day. You may see it moving from one hide to another to regulate temperatures, or take a drink etc. You cannot turn them into day dwellers however, if you can put them in a separate room, you may be able to slowly time the lights to turn on more during the night and have it dark during the day, by using curtains or something. I heard of people doing this with crested geckos. Where its dark in their "reptile room" at 5pm so they will be active much earlier on during the day. [

Leopard geckos are mostly nocturnal but can be raised to be awake during the day and sleeping during the night. You would have to put them somewhere darker, and have you daylight lamp on at night and your night lamp on in the day. Only feed him/her during the mourning/daytime, then he/she would figure out that food is out in the "night time"(which is actually daytime).
Good luck.

They are nocturnal. They can be lightly active during the daytime, But they are way more active at night. You can feed them, and handle them during the day. They cannot be made diurnal though.

They are not very active during the day, other than to feed. They do not like bright light therefore I put ours on the opposite side of the room of the windows. Our Lizzy eats meal worms or crickets and lives in a heated aquarium. They are fun to watch!

My geckos are mainly nocternal, but I do see them eating and walking around during the day. If I were you, I wouldn't mess around with their routine; its natural for them to live this way.

i think of you may desire to placed him in a separate cage because of the fact if this keeps up he will ultimately die. the gentle is probably hurting his eyes and he would not desire to return out. it fairly is the two that or he's fairly youthful and you ought to hand feed him and shop a distinctive eye out. perhaps you may desire to alter the gentle. I turn off the gentle as quickly as I leave for the day and turn on while i'm abode, then turn it off at night.
