Why would on retailer send a customer to a competitor?

I was at Sears today to purchase some glasses because they had a sale, however; my eye exam and prescription was done at JC Penney. This rude fat sales lady at Sears had an attitude when I asked her questions because she wanted to tell me what to do with my $ and that is a big no no when dealing with me. She was so frustrated that she suggested I go to JC Penney to purchase my glasses. I wanted to know if this was procedure for Sears's or is it that JC Penney and Sears are the same chain store just using different names? Finally, I got the glasses I wanted at the price I was willing to pay.

Sears and Penney's are not the same chain. They are competitors. You just happened to get a clerk who is a jerk! LOL

No, Sears and JC Penney are not the same company, but it sounds like the rude fat sales lady is not the one with the attitude. Her suggestion was probably her way of being civil to you instead of what she really wanted to say.
