2005 PT Cruiser : Noise - A/C issue?
Last year I had to get the A/C flashed for a rumbling issue as it restarts consistently for some reason. During this cold season, it may be the A/C or heater. Instead of a rumble, it's wailing during a 10 minute trip to the parking lot to catch my bus. It's never wailed before but just started to do it and I can hear it 50 feet from my house door.
Should I bother turning it into Chrysler to check it? The local business closed here and it's replacement is an hour away.

wailing? Like a high-pitched squealing or what?
Could be a loose or worn out belt that's slipping, could be a bad pulley bearing, could also be a locked up compressor.
If the local Chrysler, Dodge or Jeep dealer is an hour away, find a local shop that can fix your vehicle. Unless, of course, you think it's a warranty issue, then take it to the closest dealer for warranty (a belt or compressor wouldn't be a warranty issue, but pulley or pulley bearing might be if you still have the 7/70 powertrain warranty). Of course, once you find out the problem, you could call the dealer or Chrysler assistance to see if it's a covered part if you are still under the powertrain warranty. (BTW, powertrain warranty only covered original buyer, or second buyer who paid to transfer it to them. It also had a $100 deductible.)
