Why do you like Xfactor ,why does each act have a sad past ?

im sorry but the program to me is a joke, what a sad bloody world we live in . its pathetic ,im not denying there are some talented people on there, but come on, some people get voted on because of some tragic story in their life.

Peter Kay's show last year lampooned the sympathy thing perfectly, with the contestants having the most improbable pasts. I think one group called two up two down had the two female contestants in wheel chairs who were paralysed after a canoe accident close to Niagara falls.

Another contestant (R Kay or something like that) was voted off, but reinstated after his gran died. He was shown grief stricken at the funeral, only to break into a wide beam when Pete Waterman gatecrashed the funeral to break the news.

I never watch the show, so but I can imagine them all playing the sympathy card, and the other cliche 'I want this so badly'

I want to be a millionaire playboy, but that doesn't mean I am likely to become one.

completely agree. The only time I watch it is the auditions. As its entertaining to see people who think they are the next big thing turn out to be crap.

I agree there are talented people out there. But what ever happened to hard work and determination. The true music icons never became so by winning a talent contest. Now music icons go along the lines of Slash(guns n roses and velvet revolver) James Hetfield(Metallica), Dimebag(Pantera), Tom Morello(Rage Against The Machine) and Johnny Cash

lol yeah that's why i started to put in me headphones, my other half watches it , then you hear the voice over and the start of that sad sad music then you get contestant who then starts about how they are singing for the memory of their dead Mum/Dad/Granny/Grandad/Dog/Cat/Goldfish and then we all supposed to feel sorry for them

should be called the sob story factor

i personally can't stand the bloody programme and cant wait till the tut is off my screens so i can have my Saturday nights back in front of the TV

To be honest, I can't stand the programme, too many hopes are dashed, and that Simon bloke thinks he is really special, give me Stricktly any day! I also get sick of people trying to play on the Publics sympathy, most undignified.

It always makes me laugh when they start the sad music and talk about how it is so difficult being them. Every body has problems and theirs are no where near that bad.

Unfortunately it's not just their past that's sad - it's also fact that so many people are sucked in by the whole charade, and I wish Cheryl Cole's husband would start to feed her - she's a skinny mess.

No show is perfect but when someone like Leona Lewis is discovered, the Xfactor is well worth it.
