Go to the Model Railroad Museum in Balboa Park. Kids get in free.

Do you have time to drive to Carlsbad for Legoland for the day? It's designed specifically for 2- to 12-year-olds, and is a wonderful place. Some rides are designed for small children, some, like roller coasters, for older kids, and there aren't crowds of teenagers.
Go to Legoland.com/california for pictures, videos, etc.
Also, the Coaster train goes there from where you will be staying. A very nice ride !

Youve have the Zoo, sea-world, beaches, Museums, Scripps Oceanogrphy, Coronado Beach & Hotel. Lighthouse......Lots to Do! Shopping......Etc
