It is a 8 pin relay.
It is connected to +5V, Diode 1N4007, Transistor BC 548, & Load.

"Would 15-16.8 volts dc (the intercom) be enough to pull in the 24volt dc relay, if I use a 12volt dc relay would I burn it up?" 24 volt relay won't work, use a 12 volt relay with a resistor in series to drop it to 12 volts. Size of the relay depends on the resistance of the coil of the relay you select. For example, it the relay has a 120 ohm coil, adding 30 ohms in series will change the 12 volts sensitivity to 15 volts. Get a fairly sensitive relay, as those intercom circuits can't deliver much current. You may find out that when you connect the relay, the voltage drops enough that you don't need a resistor. .
