Anybody for a partition of the US into red states and blue states?

We could set up a clearing house so people who want to move from one to the other could swap for equivalent houses and jobs. The two could still be allies, even have a common defense, but each have a government and laws they can be comfortable with. I'm for it.

    No.

You blue will turn red when you see conservative values work.

Whether we want it or not, I think it is coming. Places like the north east will become one country, the south east another, the mid west another, the south another and the west another. I imagine Alaska would either become a separate country or become part of Canada. The exact dividing lines are open to question. Economics would play a huge role in it as well as geography. For instance, Texas, Louisiana and Oklahoma could easily be self sufficient. Alaska's oil and other natural resources could make her independent and the mid west would do well by itself so long as they had the ports on the great lakes to use. Sea ports are a huge factor in determining viability for commerce.

Areas like the north east have few viable exports would tend to be fairly poor, dependent countries. California's , or the west coast's, fate will depend on if they figure out that they need to be more efficient and business friendly. If they don't learn that lesson, they will fail.

We could put all the red state denizens in Rhode Island. Hire a bunch of Japanese train station guards to help pack them in, in case it's a tight fit.

Immigration and liberalism are tearing this country apart.

If the conservative states left, the liberal states would quickly become a shared colony of China and Islam. I don't want that next door.

I would be for it only if you could further divide the states up by blue and red regions.

the problem with that is that the south would be incredibly poor.

The manufacturing bases, jobs and money are more prevalent in the blue states. it's why our taxes are higher than in red states. for every tax dollar a state like NJ sends to Washington, we only get 60 cents back, whereas some red states, (like Alaska, Louisiana for example) get up to $1.80 back for every dollar they send.

it would be sending our own people off to starve and die.

  • Sounds good but the Blue states will be empty.

What happens after the election when they change?

After a while, the red states will get tired of the 18th century and will want to move forward.

Can we let them back into the union as slave states, with no vote?

Seems to me we already have a partition, thanks in large part to Fox News. And what you're suggesting didn't work very well when the Confederacy tried it during the Civil War.

But it would be fun to see who'd end up doing better. I forsee an exodus out of the red states.

Edit: Amerika, it was really that the Confederacy didn't like a strong central government. Sound familiar?
