Cell phone Verizon update?

Ask someone at Verizon about an early upgrade option. They might charge you $20 for it, but will sometimes let you upgrade your phone early. You might have to wait until at least your first year expires, but its possible.

Also, if you have another line (or even a friend's) line that is using Verizon, you can upgrade that line and use the upgraded phone on your account. There is nothing sneaky about this and VZW doesn't care if you do. Then when you're line is up for renewal next year, you can use your renewal on the line you borrowed from this year.

Once you get the phone, you can call VZW and ask for an ESN swap of the phones.

Of course, if you pay for your phone you can update it. You have a contract to get service through Verizon, you don't have a contract on which phone you use.

Sure, you can upgrade, you'll just have to pay more for the phone than what you would if you waited the full two years. Be warned though, phones are expensive if you don't have an upgrade available.
