He was the only present who became one through appointment, without being part of a presidential election ticket.

He became the first one to be appointed Vice-President, under the provisions of the 25th Amendment (ratified in 1967). Spiro Agnew resigned the Vice-Presidency on Oct. 10, 1973. President Nixon announced his appointment of Gerald Ford on October 12, 1973. Following his confirmation by the Congress, Ford was sworn in as Vice-President on December 6, 1973. Nixon resigned as President on August 9, 1974, and Ford became President.

He was never elected president nor vice president. He did, however, circumvent the American Justice system, which has never recovered. He proved, beyond a doubt, that if you are rich and famous, then you can do any evil, and never be brought to Justice.

    Like his predecessor, Nixon.

He fell and tripped a lot. Oh and Squeaky Fromme tried to assissinate him.
