Xbox 360 DVD Drive Question?

I am currently building an Xbox 360 from Scratch. I have purchased all of the parts needed, and upon building it, I have come across the issue with the motherboard, or what ever it may be, not accepting the DVD drive I have.

I have come across "flashing" DVD drives, but it seems that, that is only usefull when looking to play burned games and such.

Is there any method that I can use to get the DVD drive to be accepted so it can make this work?

Update:

I have already looked into "spoofing" or "flashing" the DVD Drive. The only thing I have seen that this is used for is for playing Burnt Copies of Games.

If im wrong, someone please let me know.

First I'd like to say, that sounds cool :P

It's probably because the drives are meant to be like that, first of all is it a DVD ROM drive? You'd have to probably purchase the drives that are in the Xbox, examples are Samsung, Lite-on, Hitachi and something else lol

There might be a way by doing something called "spoofing", google it :)

Every xbox has its own DVD drive... The DVD drive only works with the xbox that it was originally made for and no other.
