Verizon Droid pricing?

Here's the deal: I've got an existing 2-year plan with Verizon for a standard voice phone, no data plan. It expires in May 2010. I want to get a Droid and am willing to sign a new 2-year contract. According to their website at http://www.verizonwireless.com/b2c/splash/droid.js... I should be able to get it for $149.99 since I'm an existing customer. But Best Buy and the Verizon store say I can't get it for that price (or even $199) because my current plan doesn't expire until next May. WTF? That's not what their website says!

You have to be eligible for upgrade to get the discounted price. If you are the primary line on the account and your price plan qualifies, you may be eligible for an annual upgrade, which is a little more(should be 219.99 I believe) Call *611 and ask about it tomorrow

The renewing cost, or new shopper cost is $one hundred fifty on line or $199 in keep (shops cost funds to function and that they are often privately owned with the incredible to apply the call after buying rights from the corporation, so telephones are often extra costly in keep). yet once you have won a sparkling telephone in the final 2 years, it will cost $500 considering you're no longer renewing your settlement or a sparkling shopper. So breakdown- NEW CUTOMERS- $one hundred fifty - on line (it incredibly is virtually unfastened to run a internet site while in comparison with a save) $199 - keep cost present consumers- $500 (who've recieved new telephones on the decrease cost cost interior the previous 2 years)
