When joining the air force do they give you the chance to pick where you want to be assigned?

Like in the navy you can choose i think its three different choices you have of your own and they try to put you there, so how would that work with the air force? and only answer if you know thanks

I got to pick a list of bases that I wanted to go to. But... unfortunately the Air Force did not need me at any of the bases that I picked so I was sent to a base that wasnt on my list. It just depends on if the Air Force needs your paticular AFSC at any of the bases that you want to go to, if not then they will send you somewhere where your job is needed.

In the Air Force you will pick a list of bases that you would like to be sent to. Keep in mind the needs of the Air Force will come first. If you pick all bases on the east coast but they need someone in California, you're going to California.

They will give you a "dream sheet" to fill out for possible duty assignments but its not written in stone.

That's not how it works in the Navy...

No, they assign you based on your skill set and their need.

Everyone is assigned the same place... a chair.
