It's true that Jehovah Witnesses do not accept any blood transfusion, whatever serious is the situation of an eventually dying member. They apply the Old testament up to the letter and it said in Leviticus "you shall not eat blood". But the Jewish laws reported in that Chapter of the Bible were existing far before the Arrival of Jesus, and were addressed to people who did not had a chance to know him. The New Testament and Paul are largely dealing with those old hanging Jewish customs.

J.W. beliefs include that...
"All Scripture is inspired of God and beneficial for teaching, reproving, setting things straight, and disciplining in righteousness, that the man of God may be fully competent, completely equipped..." -- 2 Timothy 3:16,17
"All the things that were written aforetime were written *for our instruction*..." -- Romans 15:4
"The holy spirit [has] favored adding no further burden to You,
except these necessary things, to keep abstaining from
things sacrificed to idols
and from blood
and from things strangled
and from fornication.
If You carefully keep yourselves from these things, You will prosper. " --Acts 15:28,29
"The conclusion of the matter, everything having been heard, is:
Fear the true God and *keep his commandments*.
For this is the whole *obligation* of man." (Ecclesiastes 12:13)

It is very simple...the bible forbid it...Where ?? in Acts 15:28-29
Acts 15:28-29 For the holy spirit and we ourselves have favored adding no further burden to YOU, except these necessary things,
29 to keep abstaining from things sacrificed to idols and from blood and from things strangled and from fornication. If YOU carefully keep yourselves from these things, YOU will prosper. Good health to YOU!”
Does the command to abstain from blood include blood transfusions?
Yes.
To illustrate: Suppose a doctor were to tell you to abstain from alcoholic beverages. Would that simply mean that you should not drink alcohol but that you could have it injected into your veins? Of course not! Likewise, abstaining from blood means not taking it into our bodies at all. So the command to abstain from blood means that we would not allow anyone to transfuse blood into our veins
Why the bible forbid the use of blood??
Cause only Jesus's blood are authorized in the bible to be used in the book of Luke 22 to DRINK...and Revelation 7 to WASH...of course figuratively speaking...over of that from the begining the bible doesn't allow to use blood for any purpose.

If some one cannot eat, say in a coma, they "feed" them intravenously. Receiving blood intravenously would therefore be seen as feeding upon blood. Bible says in several verses not to eat/drink blood, so they obey that.
Leviticus 7:26 "you must not eat any blood."
Leviticus 17:14 "You must not eat blood of any flesh"
Acts 15:20 "keep abstaining from...blood"
Acts 15:29 "keep abstaining from...blood"
Ingesting blood was part of idolatry, which God disdains.
