Using a wireless router with a cable modem?

I have a Scientific Atlanta DPC2202C Cable Modem and I have connected my Linksys WRT54G router to it so I use the wireless capabilities of my laptop. I can get it to work with no problems, but when the laptop connects to the network, it says that my network is not secure. I have tried to secure the Linksys, but when I get in to it, it asks for a user name and a password. I know that I am supposed to skip the user name and type in "admin" for the password, but this does not work. It never lets me advance beyond this screen. Any suggestions as to what I should try next? Thanks for your help!

Press and hold the "Reset" button on the back for about 30 seconds to reset the router. Now try logging back in with the password "admin". You should be able to secure your wireless now.

I work in a call center and I usually have the customer reset the router with default password and username. To do this, hold in the pin reset on the back.
