hahaha i work at abercrombie and i'm always assigned to room 1, the room in which the person is forced to stay at that table and greet. when assigned to the front, you are NOT allowed to leave that table. it is to watch the fierce bottles on the men's side, to make sure they're not stolen, and to greet everyone going in and out.
you have to stay at that table. i would just pretend to fold. that's basically what everyone does. i used to fold the same shirt over and over again. they tell u once you're done folding, to fold them again, as practice makes perfect. it is really a bore being in the front room because you're immobile.
as u cant venture far from behind the front table, i just grab the shirts closest to me that are already folded and pretend to fold them to look busy. or i just keep folding the same shirt again and again so i don't mess up a perfectly folded pile. LOL
to answer your question, the job of the person in the front room is to say "hey, what's goin' on?" and to fold clothes. the main thing is the greeting. a secret shopper comes every now n then and if u dont say the tag line u get a bad score.

Yea the job is either the cashier or the floor person.
Cashier just rings up clothes puts it in a bag and then helps the next person.
Floor dudes just fold clothes that people mess up then help people find stuff they need.
Pretty simple.

I think any employee in clothing stores all could fold clothes.

I think it actually may be some type of shift for employees to greet customers casually instead of confronting them awkwardly. I've been to a lot of A&F stores and had the same strange thoughts. Hope this helps :-)

yes it's their job to fold clothes. it seems like they're folding the same shirt probably because people keep messing up that shirt.
