How did all lug nuts came loose while driving?

After one year, all lug nuts on my wheel came loose when I was going around 60MPH. It did damage to the wheel and I had it towed to have the rim replaced. The only time I had the car tires off was one year ago when I bought new tires. The mechanic told me that the other tire on the other side was also coming loose. Since I bought new tires, I've put on 2,000 miles on the car. I rarely drive over 50 MPH and only drive a few miles per day. Is it possible that the tire repair shop did not properly torque the wheels and that they've slowly come loose after a year of slow driving and 2,000 miles? Expert advice requested. Thanks in advance!

It is always recommended to properly torque the lug nuts but with the new wheels being mag type. We all know that mag wheels will sometimes need to be re tightened after a short spell. Read the recommendations on the manual and it also says to check the tightness of lug nuts shortly after installation. They probably did tighten them correctly but due to temperature and other factors they can and will sometimes come loose. Thank fully this is a rare occasion.

It's either improper torque or some one really doesn't like you.

If they're alloy wheels, they should be re-torqued a short while after the initial installation.

They don't come loose. They where either never tightened or deliberately loosened.
