How do get USA visa from Russia?

I have a friend who wants to come to America and has asked for an "invitation" ... what is this? and where/how do I go about getting him one?

    actually, he doesn't need an letter of invitation. that's something Russia requires from foreigners who want to visit Russia. If they're coming over on a tour, the Russian tourist agency provides it. So, Russians think they need one to come here. They don't. but if you want to send one anyway to make him feel better, write up whatever you feel and mail it to him.

    go to the postal office they have the forms to get the visa. or go to your city hall.
