Is Toby Gerhart a Heisman candidate?

Man, they are putting the screws to USC in LA, and Gerhart is just playing awesome. Heisman? Wow. 171 and 3 TD's (so far). Thoughts?

the dude is nasty! certainly a heisman candidate! Stanford should have won against Arizona and Wake, but Toby has done more for his team than other candidate has done for theirs, and he has the stats to prove it. If he finishes the year with back to back 100 yard games against Cal and ND - and the Cardinal win both games, he should be a no brainer finalist!

After today's performance, he will be the second leading rusher in the FBS (well ahead of Ingram) and be tops in touchdowns (with 19 on the year). He has put up nearly 400 yards the past two weeks against top 10 teams. What the hell does someone have to do to be taken seriously as a heisman candidate, not to mention as a halfback!

In terms of his statistics, yes, he is a legitimate pretender for the Heisman trophy. However, the lack of exposure in Stanford, coupled with 3 loses from the Cardinal, will result in an unidentified candidate winning. Had Stanford won against Wake Forest and Arizona, games they should have won, there would have been a lot of hype for Gerhart. That guy is a beast, punishing anybody who gets in his way.

Tom Rathman part II but not a Heisman candidate.

Should be a great prospect in the pros as a fullback.

  • He should get some consideration because that dude is a beast and is a load to bring down. I think he is one of the top three running backs in the country along with CJ Spillier and Mark Ingram.

He was low on the list at the start of season, but has since fallen out. He's not even in the top 15 in the chase now.

  • he's pretty good.

Man, USC was overrated this year
