Possible causes of a refrigerator leaking water on the inside?

I have an electric self-defrosting fridge. It leaks water slowly inside the refrigerator compartment, which usually ends up on the bottom floor inside the fridge.

The refrigerator section and the freezer compartment are as cold as they should be(foods are staying fresh/frozen), so this does not appear to be a temperature regulation problem.

Any ideas on what the problem might be?

Update:

An ice maker was an option, but we never did the installation.

The leak is probably due to the defrost evaporator trough being plugged and frozen over with ice. It may have to be flushed clear to prevent the air intake from also being frozen which would affect temperatures in the fridge compartment.

You need to clean out the little hose at the back of the fridge it's plugged . Move the fridge and clean it also run the vacuum using the crevice attachment at the bottom of the fridge, reposition the fridge but make sure that you leave space in between the wall and the fridge, air needs to circulate for a proper function .

When the fridge goes into defrost mode--normally the bit of water generated goes to the bottom drip pan and evaporates... I have a feeling that a hose leading to the bottom is broken or off. Look around inside the fridge and see if you see any sign of a hose or connection.

It you're sure its coming from the fridge, it's probably oil. Its not freon- the refrigerant would evaporate before you even see it. If it's oil, you have a real problem and should call a repair tech asap.

Do you have an auto ice machine or water dispenser? That was my problem, the plastic piece to the water hose in the back leading to the front dispenser was cracked and had to be replaced, luckily we had tile floors in the whole house.
