Shabby chic crafts on a budget?

I'm a teenage girl looking to give my room more of the "shabby chic" look. I've searched around on the internet, and most projects seem to be about refinishing furniture. Unfortunately, that's pretty much out of the question for me because, well, it's still my parent's furniture and I doubt they'd be into such a big change.

I like sewing, though I'm not too experienced yet, so any simple sewing projects would be great.

I don't have much money to spend on materials, so the cheaper the better.
