AMC TV Movie "Prisoner". What exactly was this about? What did the ending mean?
I did not watch it, but a friend did and she called me and said she was so angry because she just wasted 6 hours of her life and still didn't know what the whole thing was about. She said they made it seem that everything would be answered in the last episode, but it made no sense to her. I tried to read about it on the internet, and it sounds interesting, but I can't make anything of it either. Course, it doesn't help that I never actually saw it. Can anyone tell us what it was about and what the ending meant? All I can figure out is that there are two worlds, New York and the Village. And one is an illusion and the other real. HELP. Thanks.

The whole existence of The Village is in the mind of Helen (#2's wife) in her comatose state which is why #2 has to keep drugging her. He has sacrificed her so there can be a village because he believes in the greater good. The longer his wife remains awake the more holes begin to appear. The son (1112) kills himself when he finds out that he has never existed....he was born in the village - hence in their minds. The village is not a real place. It's all in the mind. I believe when #2 put the grenade in his mouth to kill himself it made it possible for him to return to his wife. All the people that lived in the village were employees of Summacor - so unlike Elvis - they never left the building. LOL!

It's not a movie, it's a series. it's a remake of the 1970's series.
The main character (6) has flash backs from when he lived in New York. But in the village he is lead to believe they are the only society. with #2 being the head man. That's why they say next week all will be explained for the storyline just as in any tv series they have to keep you wondering what's going to happen next. Now AMC is different in that they show several episodes in one night, I think this is because it will end in just over a month or so then start up again later like other series.
Since they started on Sunday night they show 2 hours as to one hour episodes like other weekly tv series. So that by tonight they have aired 6 hours so far with a repeat after the first airing. It looks like they will air the show on Mondays & Tuesdays. But i wont be sure until i get next weeks tv guide.
