What is the best personal gift you have gotten from your child from daycare or preschool?

I am a daycare provider. I have run out of ideas for gifts for the parents of my children for Christmas.

I want to give them something personal, with a foot print or hand print or picture. I would like something unique that they have not gotten before.

My daycare children are small, newborn to 3years old.....if you could could suggest the items you have gotten or g iven, that have been well received, I would love to have them.

Its wasn't really a "gift" but you make it into a gift if you jazzed it up with a holiday frame or something...but the most meaningful gift I have ever recieved was a picture my son drew of "our family." Since your kids are younger you could make a Christmas tree out of their handprints...and put it in a frame..That would be great for me to get from my daughter now.

I once received a great christmas wreath that I have hung every year. It was my son's hand prints put on cloth flag, with green paint in the shape of a wreath. Then his thumb, in red, was used to make the 'berries'.

A coworker has a calendar his daughter made that is super cute. On the january page is her photo. all following pages have a circle cut where her face can shine through and she has created a new scene for each month. For example, November is a construction paper turkey with her face instead of the turkey's.

Also, I've received a scrapbook page with several photos of my son taken over the year or through the week. It's nice to see pictures of what your kid is doing through the day. Those are things you miss when you leave your young child at daycare.

Well I have only got one thing from my daughter so far...which she is 4 years old and this is her first year in school. Anywho she made me a bracelet which I thought was so sweet. I hate bracelets but I still thought it was the sweetest thing. She made it out of all different beads.

For the really young ones that can't do stuff like that the foot or hand thing. For the 2 - 3 years old maybe do the bracelet or necklace out of beads.

It may be a little on the expensive side, but perhaps you can get funding from the school board? You could buy unglazed mugs or plates and have them put glazed handprints on them, then have someone with a kiln fire them for you? I think it's an adorable idea.

There's a paint-your-own pottery studio in a nearby city. Maybe search to see if you have one?

Honestly, if it were me, I'd want a starbucks card. Really, you can't go wrong, and $5.00 gift cards will buy them 1 drink, $10 two drinks...etc. If you don't want to just give a card, you can buy mini-boxes of assorted chocolates at Walgreens for 99 cents....already wrapped even! That with a $5.00 gift card would be a great little gift. (I know what you said about chocolates....but coffee and chocolate??? How can you go wrong???)

My step-son always gives us a calender for the coming year with a blue hand print (for his dad) and a pink hand print (for me) and a bookmark with a drawing he has done at some time through the year that he gets to pick himself.
