This kid has some gumption for his age.

IT is ok for a child to stand up for his rights but not to be disrespectful ! FOR THAT He owes an apology!
And I can hear the libs saying....poor kid didn't have any respect from her etc....
HE IS A KID. YOu show respect so you learn how to do that as an adult...not like the village idiot in office that makes AMERICA the enemy while promoting HIS AGENDA! You can agree to disagree in a rational way with manners..but he was disrespectful! You do not talk to adults this way and his parents should teach him that too.
He was coached..indoctrinated by his family's gay friends.
But that is ok....but he needs to apologize for being disrespectful! THAT IS THE ISSUE!

First, AK is Alaska and this happened in Arkansas
Secondly, If the boy does not want to say the pledge then that is his right. Many Jehovah Witnesses have a problem with it also. However, he can stand out of respect to his classmates and be silent and not even look at the flag. What he did was cause a distraction to get attention to himself.
Thirdly, this child has a problem if his mother condones him telling a teacher to go jump off a bridge.
Fourthly, this child is not being taught the true meaning of the pledge. It doesn't say that there is currently justice for all but that in the pledge he is saying that there should be justice for all. His refusing to say that line shows that he is not for justice for all.

AK = Alaska.
AR = Arkansas
wow....Is it considered "indoctrination" when it's being done by the parents? It's fine to have a belief, it's another to be rude about that belief. If he doesn't want to recite the pledge, then fine. He should quietly stand up with the rest of the kids. Refusing to do so, and telling the teacher to "jump off a bridge" shows that he WANTED to pick a fight over his belief. There's no need for that. But he's only 10, and obviously his parents have taught him to be this way.
I don't pray at weddings because I'm not religious. But I don't go disrupting the whole ceremony because the people around me are engaging in something I don't believe in....

He said he did it because there are still some minorities in this country that do not have "true" liberty and "true" justice because of who they are.
What if this very kid lived during the Civil Rights era in the 50's and he refused to stand until blacks were given "true" liberty and "true" justice?
I applaud his right to protest, but he didn't have to disrespect her like that. That was his only mistake. Too bad it's funny as hell LOL!

Sad, really, I'm still trying to find the words anti-gay and anti-homosexual in the Pledge of Allegiance.

I think the teacher was on some sort of ego trip.....
I'm going to "make" that boy do as I tell him!
Instead of a standoff that got ugly, maybe she should have used the initial incident as a civics lesson or a lesson in tolerance.

It's so touching to see a kid really espousing the ideals of America. His refusal to pretend that the country he loves is living up to its principles encourages me about the future of our nation. Even though so many people are giving him grief, he may just change one or two minds, and who knows where it could go from there?!

coached little Toady
in the interview that I saw with the little kool-aid drinker , he gave his rehearsed speech while glancing over at his parental unit on occasion for approval
it is nothing more than sad

A normal 10 year old could care less about such things, he has been coached. Plain, obvious and simple as that.

The kid's really bright, and he has a point. I support his right to not say the Pledge of Allegiance. You know, I really don't like the pledge. It smacks of Fascism to me. I would be in favor of abolishing it, and yes I'm a conservative.
