Gas not getting through to the engine in a snowblower?

The gas gets through to the (forgive me, I dont know a whole lot about the mechanics of a snowblower) small brass looking cup on the underside of the carb. But it doesnt get past that, when I spray in some starting fluid it runs at an abnormally high RPM for 2-3 seconds so the electrical is fine. Im wondering what it could be that would block the gas. It hasnt run for a year or two now so Id like to get it running again before we get snow.

It runs at high revs after spraying starter fluid because it is straight ether. Avoid using the starting fluid too often as the engine will become addicted to the ether, and it will get to the point where it won't start without it. Is it 2-stroke or 4-stroke? If it's 2-stroke and it's been sitting for quite some time, empty any fuel out of the tank, remove the spark plug, turn the engine over a few times, put fresh fuel in the tank, dip the spark plug in fuel and put it back in, use the choke and try to start it. If it's 4-stroke, replace the stale fuel in the tank with fresh fuel, remove and clean spark plug, dip spark plug in fuel and put it back in, use the choke and try to start it. If none of that works, remove the carby and blow through it at the fuel inlet, or take it apart, clean and dry the parts like the needle valve and seat, the float, the jets, and re-assemble. Hope that helps

first make sure you have new gas in it the old gas will be rotten and no good. second you should replace the little fuel filter on the hose that leads to the carb, it may not appear plugged but could be restricting the flow of the gas and lastly run some fuel system cleaner through it... if you still cant get it running after all this the carb needs to be torn apart and cleaned.

Ok what you need to do is take the carb off and be carefull not to pop anything off. then once you get it off go and get your self a can of carb cleaner from your closest auto parts stor and then spray is in the carb and blow everything out with compresed air from your mouth or from a air compreser, you may not have to pull the carb off it is exsesable to spray and clean. Well if that does not work than pull the fuel line off and blow air through the fuel line that goes to the bras fiting.

the needle and seat are stuck you need to take of the float bowl and clean . A good way to stop this from happening is to drain all gas and start an run till it stops that way the needle stays open an clear good luck

remove the carb, and clean it. if your good enough rebuild it.
