Canadians visiting US?
I know Canadians can legally visit the US for up to 6 months at a time, at which point they need to leave.
How long do they need to leave for? Could I (I'm Canadian) go to the US for 6 months, return to Canada for a week, then come back for 6 more months?

The reason is I'm a US permanent resident (green card) up for ciitzenship in a year.
But my g/f wants to immigrate in like 6 months, so I'm trying to find out how she can stay in the US / immigrate.

For visitors it's generally 6 months, longer stays are require to show their visas. There are additional categories available to Canadians, for more info take a look with this link
