Your misery was the company I always wanted to keep

Now relieved to see our shadows no longer walk hand in hand

I’m not the only one who feels this way

You made it clear when you struck me across the face

You walked out the door leaving my body on the floor

Lying there critiquing my guilt free conscience

Certain obstacles can’t be avoided

Building walls to keep me from the truth

I heard the whispers through the cracks

Honesty is devastating

Apologies received but not recited

Blind yourself with your own ignorance

I’ve finished dissolving in tears

Prayers to aid you down the path of destruction

Fingers release the grasp of faded pictures

Walking away from the taunting memories which tied us together
