Should the Red Sox sign Jason Bay?
They would need someone with similar output that Jason Bay produced: BA 267 HR 36 RBI 119 OBP 384 Only Mark Texeria of the Yankees had more homeruns than Jason Bay,and remember this was his first full season in the American League.

He might not want to play for the Red Sox. He proved he can hit in the AL east and that's worth a lot in the open market. if the Red Sox can't sign him to a good deal, then I expect they will try to sign Holliday and maybe ask Josh Reddick to learn how to play first base well if he wants to get to the big leagues more quickly and permanently. He's got a left-handed bat with some pop. Not Adrian Gonzalez, but who knows.
If Mike Lowell is healthy and is moving well and if Beckett is healthy and can throw his curve or another breaking ball, the Sox can and should make it back to the playoffs with either Bay or Holliday.
Take care.

Yes but I think he's going to test the market. I bet he wants to see what Holliday gets first. I also think he would be for playing closer to Alberta which means he'll sign with the Mariners.

If they are smart, and I think they are, they will. It would be foolish to let a player like Bay go.
