Regarding HD Television without cable service?

I'm considering downgrading my service provider to just the Internet. But I understand that there's a way to get an HD signal without them (at least for the local channels). Is there anyone who knows about this who could help me out? Thank you in advanced.

You need an antenna and either a digital TV or a analog TV with a converter box.

The antenna is the critical element. Unless you live VERY close to the transmitters, like under 10 miles with absolutely no obstructions like trees or buildings, don't even bother with an indoor set-top antenna. A good roof antenna can give you solid reception as long as you're within 40 miles of transmitters. Enter your address (at least zip code) at one of the sites below for station listings and antenna recommendations.

All you need is an antenna to get broadcast high def TV.
