Adoption is a legal fiction that changes your name and gives you rights of inheritance from your adoptive parents. You can repudiate the adoption by changing your name back to what it was before the adoption and disavowing your "inheritance." But why bother?

Unfortunately, you can't unadopt yourself. You can, however, cut ties with your adoptive mother. Tell her how you feel and why you don't want further contact with her. Or don't. You don't owe her anything. I'm sorry that she wasn't a mother figure to you. As an adoptive parent, that makes me very sad...for YOU, not for her.

Good luck in finding the peace you deserve.

The only way to not be adopted by your current aparents would be being adopted by someone else. If you can find someone willing to adopt you (with all the legalities that entails), go get yourself adopted on.

    Unadoption doesn't exist yet.

Oh honey that's awful you poor thing. An adoption order is one that revokes all other orders, in effect, when you were adopted your adoptive parents your ''parents'' in every aspect but in the biological Sense. If you wish to totally break all ties the only option i can think of legally is to apply to the courts to 'divorce your parents.

Before you do this try counseling if you haven't already sweet.... also you can now have access to your adoption files to fill any questions you may have (if you haven't done this already)

    Good luck and best wishes

    You can't un-adopt yourself.

You're 26 years old. Maybe you should seek counselling if this is still an issue for you.
