R&P, do you enjoy any of these obscure 60s and 70s bands?

If so, rate the album if you could. 1-5, 1 being bad, 5 being best. Just a few random albums that I happen to enjoy a whole lot.

House on the Hill - Audience

One Nation Underground - Pearls Before Swine

Street Corner Talking - Savoy Brown

The Flock - The Flock

Is This What You Want? - Jackie Lomax

Spooky Two - Spooky Tooth

Lucifer's Friend - Lucifer's Friend

Electric Sandwich - Electric Sandwich

Message from a Drum - Redbone

Smokin' Bats at Campton's - Primevil

Ahead Rings Out - Blodwyn Pig

Halfbreed - Keef Hartley

Kings of Oblivion - Pink Fairies

Rhinos, Winos & Lunatics - Man

It Ain't Easy - Long John Baldry

One Live Badger - Badger

Footprints - Gary Wright

Flash (1972) - Flash

Tomorrow Blue - Toad

BQ: What album(s) before 1980 do you consider obscure and criminally overlooked?

Update:

I love Mahavishnu Orchestra, but they're not exactly obscure. I'd say Mahavishnu, Weather Report and Return to Forever are three of the most lauded fusion groups.

Update 2:

oh yeah, mordecai sledge. although I have to say, after Abominog, I kind of lost touch with Uriah Heep. they started to sound like everything else was at the time.

Update 3:

all good bands, Annie. especially traffic, joe jackson and harry nilsson. don't get nearly enough recognition

Yes I've enjoyed all of them for many years. As a matter of fact, I have playlists by most of them over at imeem.

I also made a video to Primevil's "Leavin", which is posted over on Youtube...I still own an original vinyl of their extremely rare album "Smokin' Bats at Campton's", thanks to a DJ friend of mine in Bloomington Indiana. Here's my video...don't mind the crudeness of its production, as I was a rookie 'Windows Media/Movie Maker' user at the time of its creation. Another reason for its primitive appearance, it that there are only a handful of band pictures on the web, Lol...

I also own all the bands you've mentioned...both on original vinyl, and CD reissue in most cases.

Here's a few of my imeem playlists of some of the bands you've listed. You'll more than likely need to be logged into your imeem account (if you have one), in order to see/hear my playlists...

    Savoy Brown:

    Audience Mix:

I have all of the other bands/artists you've mentioned scattered throughout my various playlists.

Here's my home page...feel free to browse through my lists if you like. They're located to the left side...

Here's a few more obscure band/artist playlists for your listening enjoyment :)

    Stretch - Mix:

    Hookfoot (vinyl rips) - Mix:

    Bull Angus - Mix:

BQ: I could list hundreds...or maybe thousands? Lol...

But here's two that I feel are way overlooked...or don't get any recognition at all...

'Marcus' - Marcus...this is a review that I did of their one and only album release over at 'Rate Your Music' sometime ago. My user name there is Dr. Progenstein...scroll down a bit and you'll see me:

    http://rateyourmusic.com/release/album/marcus_f1/m...

Here's the audio for that album...it really rocks...give it a listen!

    http://www.imeem.com/people/aKgj4Hs/playlist/tAaUN...

'Random Hold' - The View From Here...this is a Random Hold "Mix" playlist, though it features all the music from this LP as well...remarkable band!

    http://www.imeem.com/people/aKgj4Hs/playlist/UMmsu...

Also...you'll find my album review at 'Rate Your Music' as well...scroll down a bit and you'll see me...my user name there is Dr. Progenstein.

    http://rateyourmusic.com/release/album/random_hold...

Here's a few more of my "obscure band" videos over at Youtube...

    Los Dug Dugs - Smog:

    Euclid - All Over Now:

    Sex - Come Wake Up:

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WnTGbs2Hj80

Oh...and it really doesn't get any more obscure than my 'Eastern Euro Rock" playlist over at imeem...have a look if you dare, Lol.

    http://www.imeem.com/people/aKgj4Hs/playlist/71hdi...

Again...those who wish to view my imeem playlists will be required to log into their accounts. If you don't have one...sign up. It takes all of two minutes, and it's free :)

    Great question by the way!

Spooky Tooth - Spooky Two 3

    Redbone - Message From a Drum 2

    Long John Baldry - It's Ain't Easy - 3

It comes down to personal taste in the end, the other bands you mention I know perhaps one or two tracks from, so I cannot comment.

    BQ:Here are some that are a trifle obscure,some not so obscure, they are some favourites of mine;

    Nilsson Schmilsson

Jim Capaldi - Short Cut Draw Blood

    Leon Redbone - Double Time

Elvis Costello - This Years Model

    Joe Jackson - Look Sharp

    Poco - Crazy Eyes

    The B52's

Talking Heads - More Songs about Buildings & Food

Traffic - The low spark of high-heeled boys

Garland Jeffreys - One Eyed Jack (One of the most overlooked albums ever)

The Allman Brothers Band at Fillmore East

I only know 3 of these songs, Savoy Brown, Toad, & Spooky Tooth. They're all solid 4s in my book. I'll definitely be checking out the other tracks though.

There are so many great obscure tracks from the 60s, I wish they were easier to find but then they wouldn't be obscure. Catch 22s suck.

I'm not much of a Ted Nugent fan but his first band The Amboy Dukes rocked. Their album Journey To The Center Of The Mind is a classic. I think they were kind of popular back then but now they all but forgotten.

EDIT: I can't compete with Smiley...Who can? I would like to point out that I am the only one who used your 5 point scale.

Uriah Heep are an overlooked group. Their album "Demons & Wizards" was just as good as anything by Deep Purple or Led Zeppelin. These days there's only one original member left, but they remain quite popular in Europe, playing to huge stadiums in Russia and Germany.
