Honda Accord V6 vs. Civic Si?

horsepower is what you brag about, torque is what you feel. a civic does not have torque. accord on the other hand has small gobs of it. whoever said the v6 engine is crap, import v6s are made for speed and hauling ***, they compete with our v8s, most often we got a dogfight.

accord has much more respect than the slowly civic, both of them will last practically forever, both are good on gas, despite the accord will be hard on gas compared to the civic. i drove a 4 cyl accord it was a fun drive despite me not owning it.

if its up to your parents, they really aint no way for you to win. save your own dough and maybe do a motor swap. i know parents.. they want your first car to be a slow family car.

I'm almost 17 and I've been driving around for quite some time now in an older Honda and I've been looking to upgrade to either a Civic Si or a Honda Accord Coupe.

Although I'm mesmerized by the Civic Si, I think it may be lacking a little bit in power and my parents are...

I have an 04 accord exl v6 AT&T 5 speed sedan. 242hp is eight to beat even the new 2016 civic si. It's neck and neck from the start, but after 3rd I just keep pull and forget about from a 50 plus roll. If your parents are worrying about safety, you can definitely sell them on the sedan and from 2010 and up your getting 271hp to 278hp with the 2013 models. I get the fact that the coupe is lighter so it's faster, but the civic si can't touch either one. So you've got to sell it to your parents like you're settling by taking a sedan for safety but it's gotta be the v6. A coupe gets old anyway. You cab fir at least 7 16 year old girls in the back of the sedan and your wingman is still comfortable in the front lol happy hustling.

I thought getting a 1999 mercury cougar would be good, it had a v6. I put 6 thousand dollars worth of work into and took it to the shop a month ago and still haven't gotten it back. V6's are really expensive to fix all though they are fun you can get the civic si and just get it tuned so the v tec kicks in sooner, or depending on the year you can get a sweet JDM engine that boosts horse power and still keep it a cheap to fix four cylinder. I got a delsol right now having problems with it but i know if the problem is serious the most it'll cost me is like 300, with the cougar i paid 500 just to get the alternator replaced which is normally a cheap fix that i can do myself but with such a crowded engine you have no choice but to take it in and half the engine is elecrtical which really sucks casue that is expensive and is either a quick fix or a fix that can take several months.

I have to disagree with the anti v6 guy down there. the J35Z3 (2008-2009 accord v6 6mt coupe) is an excellent motor. grab a v6 6spd coupe and you'll be hauling all day with great fuel economy. the i-VTEC helps give the motor a boost in efficiency and power. the base 4 cyl has 170 hp not too much. the ex 4 cyl has 200 hp pretty good but i could never resist the 272 hp v6 ;). as for the civic, the 197 horses is plenty pep for its size, they are pretty quick. my opinion= go with the Accord Six.

Depends what's important to you. The Accord is a larger car and has the advantages of a roomy interior, more comfortable ride, quieter noise level, refined engine performance. Has more luxury accessories and features. The Civic Si is the peformance version of the Civic - so it has livelier handling, a stiffer ride, smaller interior and exterior - and it's easier to park. Somewhat better fuel economy being a smaller engined vehicle. I personally would go for the Accord because I value more room, comfort and refinement rather than sporty performance. Reliability wise you can't go wrong with either one.

I don't think you can, because you're not paying for it. From a practical standpoint, the 2.4 L 4- cylinder engine is perfectly adequate for everyday driving. The V6 is more expensive to maintain, operate (fuel consumption) and insure. It's not much more faster (in terms of acceleration) but it is smoother and more refined at higher speeds.

So unless you offer to pay for it, I'm afraid you don't have much of a voice, as you've mentioned.

I know where your coming from wanting more power, but the V6 is a worse engine. It won't last nearly as long as the 4-banger, costs lots more, worse gas mileage, and for not that big of a power gain. You wanna be all street racery make sure you grab a MANUAL car most importantly.

But to answer the question, tell them that the 4 cyl is way too small of an engine, and your in more danger of accidents when merging.

you didnt mention the year of the si

if its a 99 then it will beat the v6 in a race.
